X's bookmark search finds the words you type, and that's all it does. It works fine until the day you remember what a post was about but not what it said.
Most of what I save on X is about AI and building, and I never went back to those saves when I was actually building something. I ended up building reflo just so I could find mine again.
The short answer
On the web and on iPhone, open your bookmarks and use the search bar at the top. Type a word you're fairly sure is in the post.
On Android, the X app has no search bar in your bookmarks, as far as I can find. Search from a computer instead, or use the from: search further down.
If you only remember the topic, X's own search won't get you far. That case is covered at the end.
How to search X bookmarks on the web
- Go to x.com and sign in.
- In the left sidebar, click History, then open its Bookmarks tab. X is rolling History out in stages, so on some accounts the sidebar still says Bookmarks.
- Type into the search bar at the top of the list.
You don't need to pay for this. X's paid plans add bookmark folders, but the search bar is there for everyone.
It matches words in the post. To find a post by who wrote it, the from: search below works better.
How to search X bookmarks on iPhone
- Open the X app and tap your profile picture in the top left.
- Tap History. X renamed Bookmarks to History in the iPhone app in May 2026.
- Tap the Bookmarks tab.
- Use the search bar at the top.
How to search X bookmarks on Android
- Open the X app and tap your profile picture in the top left.
- Tap Bookmarks, or History and then its Bookmarks tab if your app has the new layout.
That gets you the list, but there's no search bar in it. You can scroll, use the from: search below, or search from a computer.
Search loaded bookmarks with Ctrl+F
This is the old trick from before X had any bookmark search. Open your bookmarks on a computer, scroll down for a while, then press Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on a Mac) and type a word.
Your browser can only find what has already loaded, so you scroll, search, scroll more and search again. If the save is old, the list may stop loading before you get there. I wrote about that separately: why older X bookmarks stop showing.
Search all of X if you remember who posted it
If you remember the person, skip your bookmarks and use X's main search:
from:handle onboarding
Swap in their @handle (without the @) and any word you think they used. This searches everything they've posted, not only what you saved, and it's often the fastest way back to a post. The Advanced Search page does the same thing with boxes instead of typing.
Can Grok search your X bookmarks?
In August, xAI said Grok Bot can connect to your X account, with an X plugin that can "search posts, read timelines, pull trends, and manage bookmarks". It runs on X's developer API, and paid Grok Bot users get some free API credits to start.
The Grok you talk to on X is a different thing. On October 4 it told a user who asked that "bookmarks and likes stay private by design" and that there's currently no option to give it access.
So if you already pay for Grok Bot, it may be worth a look. I haven't tried it on my own bookmarks, so I can't say how well it finds a save by topic.
Use a bookmark manager with its own search
Tools like Dewey copy your bookmarks into their own app and give you a better search box, plus folders, tags and filters. If you tag things as you save them, this works well, because you're the one who added the words to search for.
Dewey can also suggest tags with AI, and you approve them before they're applied. If you skip tagging, you're mostly back to matching the post's own words.
Why X bookmark search can't find a post you remember
Everything above matches words, and most of the time I don't remember the words. I remember the topic, so I'm typing my words instead of the author's. I type "twitter", the post says "grow on X", and nothing comes back.
Then there's everything that isn't in the post text at all:
- The useful part was inside a screenshot, and a text search has nothing to match there.
- It was said out loud in a video, and the search only sees the caption.
- You saved the first post of a thread and the good bit was in post six.
- The post was mostly a link, and what you wanted was on the page behind it.
What to use when you remember the topic, not the words
This is the problem I built reflo for. You sign in with X and tell reflo what you're working on, in your own words. It reads inside your saves: the text in screenshots, what's said in videos, the page behind a link, the whole thread. Then it brings back only the ones that help, with a line on why each one fits. When none of them fit, it says so.
It isn't free, and it doesn't read everything you've ever saved. It reads your most recent 500 on day one, then 500 new ones each month. If you remember the exact word, X's own search bar is free and does the job.
If you don't, try reflo on your own saves.
